COFFO offers a range of services to support migrant and seasonal farmworkers and the rural poor in Florida City/Homestead, Miami-Dade County and Immokalee, Collier County. Select the type of assistance you need below and follow the instructions to apply. 

Disaster Relief Assistance & Coordination


COFFO is the designated emergency farmworker assistance agency by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. 

We assist farmworkers impacted by natural disasters in counties declared by the Governor. 


Services may include: 

  • Coordination with relief agencies
  • Access to emergency funds
  • Direct disaster-related support


Emergency Assistance


When funding is available, COFFO provides urgent support for: 

  • Eviction prevention
  • Emergency lodging
  • Utility cutoff prevention
  • Transportation 
  • Medical assistance
  • Food vouchers & pantry access


Self-Sufficiency Programs


We help farmworkers build long-term stability through:

  • Vocational training referrals
  • Job placement assistance
  • Personalized employment planning


Immigration Services


COFFO assists individuals and families with:

  • Family unification
  • Petitions for relatives
  • Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
  • Citizenship applications
  • Work Authorization

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?  


Although COFFO strives to provide services to all those in need, there are certain requirements that must be met. These requirements are as follows.  All applicants must: 

 

  • Have a total household gross income of no more than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines
  • Be responsible for paying their home heating or cooling bills
  • Be a resident of Homestead/Florida City area, or Immokalee,  Collier County   
  • Have a valid ID

 

Additional requirements may be necessary for eligibility determination. You will be informed of these requirements at the time of application. Applications will not be processed without the required documents.

 

HOW TO APPLY
Application may be made (1) in person (via appointment only) or (2) online at www.coffo.org.  When applying for assistance, please have the following documents ready: 

 

  • Photo ID for all household members over 18 years of age
  • Social Security cards for all household members
  • Proof of income for the past 30 days for all household members (no bank statements)
  • Light bill with the date of service to and from on the bill (Final Notice)
  • Food Stamp Approval Letter (if receiving assistance)
  • Rental lease and Letter from the landlord stating rent is due with dates

 

About Scanning Documents
Documents can be scanned using a desk scanner or by taking clear pictures of the documents with a phone or tablet  .
